Natalja von Westernhagen is a Senior Economist at the Financial Stability Department at the Deutsche Bundesbank in Frankfurt. She has also worked as an Economist in the Banking and Financial Supervision Department at the Deutsche Bundesbank. Before joining the Deutsche Bundesbank in 2002 she received her Ph.D. at Potsdam University in the research area Systemic Transformation, Trade and Economic Growth . Her research interests focus on different topics in the area of financial stability such as financial crises and transmission of financial shocks, international bank activities, real bank lending, interbank market, relationship lending, bank risk-taking activities, macroeconomic stress testing. She has published in European Economic Review, Journal of Financial Services Research, Kredit und Kapital, International Economics and Economic Policy.
