Eugene F. Williams, Jr. Professor of the Practice, Yale School of Management at Yale University

Bill English is the Eugene F. Williams, Jr. Professor of the Practice at the Yale School of Management. Prior to joining the Yale faculty in 2017, Mr. English spent 25 years at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, including, from 2010 to 2015, as Director of the Division of Monetary Affairs and Secretary to the Federal Open Market Committee. While on leave from the Board of Governors, Mr. English served as a Senior Economist at the White House Council of Economic Advisers (1996-97) and the Bank for International Settlements (2002-03). Prior to joining the Federal Reserve, Mr. English taught at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Chicago. His research focuses on banking and monetary policy issues, including monetary policy frameworks, monetary-fiscal cooperation, and the impact of monetary policy on banking institutions. Mr. English received a PhD in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BA in Economics and Mathematics from Yale University.
